So, before I think about making a RP, anybody wanna throw any ideas on what the main story should be about?

Well, I'm assuming that it's going to be a Pokemon RP, correct?

Yes, that's what I'm intending it to be.

Considering that we have so few members at the moment since this forum just started up, I would go for something small right now...

I don't know, are you in the mood for an "apocalyptic setting", or something a bit more...normal? I could see anything from a normal starting trainer one to something involving a war between legendary Pokemon or one involving the different teams (like a Magma vs. Aqua one). It depends on which way you want to go.

I was thinking more towards where you are the Pokemon.

Oh, I see. Hmm...in the wild, with a trainer, or in a more organized society sort of setting (similar to how it was in Mystery Dungeon)?

In the wild is what I would chose.

Just saying that I'm not expecting this RP to take off and be great, because it won't, but I'm just trying to supply a RP that way better ones can come up later in the future when more members join.

Yes, well it's true that I have no idea how many people here have any experience and/or desire to do it, but it would definitely be a good idea to get some RPs started.

In the wild then. Well, I'm assuming that you would have to limit the species of Pokemon, since some really wouldn't fit together (although in some cases it might make it more interesting). Will there be any kind of human interaction? I could see something with having to avoid trainers, or maybe the affects of one of the teams various plots, but I could just as easily see a conflict between different packs/clans/species being a part of it. (Sorry for all of these questions; I just want to get a clear picture of what you're thinking of for this.)

For the species, you're correct about having to limit about what the characters come into contact with...I mean, your not going to randomly see a Rapidash in the middle of Route 216 :/ But if you had odd Pokemon in odd places, it would be interesting...

Human avoidance would be normal, because it's not like the Pokemon will just be living on a everyday route, and not see a single Trainer. This could cause some action to come up, such as having to rescue a Pokemon in distress. Also, about the teams...Yes, their actions and schemes would definitely have an impact on the area the wild live. Wild Pokemon would definitely try to stop the teams from destroying their homes.

Also, sorry for posting really slow. I'm trying to explain this all as concise and clear as possible so you'll have an easier time understanding me.

Don't worry about posting slowly. I prefer it when people take the time to order their thoughts. I like to do that before I post too.

I think that where you set the RP will have the biggest affect on what will happen, since it will determine what Pokemon appear and which teams would be involved. Are you looking at a specific region? And, if you have one already in mind, do you have a route already picked out, or is that something to be determined (or not happening at all)?

I was thinking the Sinnoh Region, and I was thinking maybe Route 222, the one between the Lake Valor Resort and Sunnyshore City?

Yeah, I remember that route. Are you planning on using one particular version (in reference to the Pokemon found there), or a mixture of all three? (I just took a look at the Platinum version Pokemon.) Of course, I figure that it will work better if it isn't quite so limited (though we don't have a very large number of people here, so limiting it to the Pokemon found on the route only isn't really unreasonable), so that people can choose one that isn't found on the route but would make decent sense if they don't like the choices. I do think the route works well. It has both land and water, so that the RP will have a mixture of Pokemon and situations.

I would like to keep the Pokemon that are normally found on Route 222 right where they normally are. But just because its limited doesn't mean the RP'ers have to use a Pokemon found there. The character I was thinking of using would be a Glaceon, therefore being a traveler to that route.

That makes sense.

I think that all that's really left to figure out is whether you want this to start out as an open ended "all of the Pokemon meet up in someway on the route, and then stuff (ie trainers, trouble with team Galactic, and such) happens" and go from there, or make a more set and detailed story line?

Open ended seems to be better in my opinion. If there was just a set storyline, when the storyline was over, the Rp would be finished. Because of this, people that still had stories going(Such as tramatic events in a characters past) would be cut off, never to be finished unless they picked it up in a sequel RP or what-not. Plus too I like to see what other RP'ers can come up with, to make things more interesting.

So like... (Now don't kill me here) But what exactly is a RP?

A roleplay. You picture yourself in a given 'pair of shoes' or character's mindset, and go from there. They tend to be quite interesting, depending on whether your players are good at description. For example, Serebii's 'Fizzy Bubbles' RP has an entry test, and one of the questions is a sample scenario in which you role play yourself out.

I love roleplay, although sadly I don't do it much on forums anymore, for whatever reason. xD;
